A guide to entry requirements for the Auckland Foundation Year and our partner universities.
To enrol on the Auckland Foundation Year (AFY) you need to have a minimum level of English language proficiency (IELTS score) and meet the academic entry requirements for your home country. Entry requirements vary depending on the length of the programme. Click the list below to see the entry requirements for your home country.
When you have completed your Auckland Foundation Year programme you can progress to one of our partner universities, provided you meet the entry requirements for your chosen degree. Each degree programme and university will have different admission requirements - you can see the full details by programme by clicking the list below.
If you do not meet the English language requirements to begin the Auckland Foundation Year, you can enrol on our English Language Preparation programme first.
Minimum academic and English language entry requirements from Auckland Foundation Year (AFY) to gain guaranteed entry to a degree programme for students applying for entry in 2020.
Please note that students who do not enter the University with an English minimum score of 75% or an IELTS 6.5 overall with no band below 6.0 (or equivalent), will be required to study and pass an academic English language course during their first year of study. This course will be included as part of the programme of study.
Age restriction: Students must be 17 years old to be eligible for entry.

2 Faculties with programmes that specify “Selection” reserve the right to deny places to students who achieve the AFY score and English language requirements stated in this table for that programme.
3 IELTS 6.0 no band less than 5.5 is still accepted if 70% English is not achieved.
4 The science subjects are: Biology, Chemistry, Information Technology, Geography, Mathematics A, Mathematics B, and Physics.
5 One year BSc (Biomedical Science) or BHSc, plus five additional years in the MBChB programme if admission is gained.
6 One year BSc (Biomedical Science), plus four additional years in the BOptom programme if admission is gained.
7 One year BSc or BHSc, plus three additional years in the BPharm programme if admission is gained.
8 Duration of conjoint programmes vary.

Bachelor of International Tourism Management – BITM
(Accommodation, Event Management, Food and Beverage, Human Resource Management, Marketing, Tourism)
Minimum Academic and English entry requirements from Auckland Foundation Year (AFY) to gain guaranteed entry to degree programme for students applying for admission into the university in 2019.
Age restriction: Students must turn 18 years old during their first semester of study at AUT to be eligible for entry.
## Students enrolled in these degrees may apply for a limited number of places that might be available in named clinical degrees.
* Places may be limited. Successful completion of the Foundation Certificate does not guarantee entry into these degrees
** For all Health Science programmes, Bachelor of Sport and Recreation and the Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science, an interview may be required, and the following are required: police check, additional health forms. These addenda will be outlined in full on the conditional offer sent to applicants.
Students must be capable of meeting the requirements of the Health Practitioners’ Competence Assurance Act (HPCA) and Vulnerable Children’s Act (VCA). The professional body (registration board) may impose additional requirements at the point of registration. The requirements detailed in the current AUT Calendar take precedence if different from those on this page.

# Students who gain an English score between 50%-65% may submit an IELTS (Academic) for programme entry. The required IELTS score for each programme is listed in the current AUT Calendar
Age restriction: Students must be 17 years old to be eligible for entry. Massey University has three campuses, Albany (Auckland), Manawatu (Palmerston North) and Wellington.
