What to expect from our campus

The University of Auckland is located in the heart of the city, just a short walk from Taylors College. The University’s main City Campus is home to beautiful gardens, cafés and food outlets and student associations. You will be part of this atmosphere as soon as you start your Foundation Studies Certificate programme so you will know your way around by the time you start your degree.

Clubs and societies

Is there a cause you really care about? Do you want to try stand-up comedy or join a band? What about taking up a new sport or meeting up with students from the same culture as yours?

There are more than 200 student clubs, societies and associations on campus where you can develop your interests and make new friends.

Campus locations

Most students study at the University’s City Campus located in the heart of Auckland. Speciality subjects such as Medicine, Education, and Sports Science have dedicated campus locations. 

City Campus

City Campus is the main campus for Arts, Business, Creative Arts, Engineering, Law and Science. Located in central Auckland, City Campus is within walking distance of Auckland’s best restaurants, entertainment venues and the harbour.

City Campus has everything you need for study, health and leisure time, including:

  • libraries
  • cafés
  • restaurants
  • health and fitness centre
  • bank
  • bookshop
  • chemist.

Other campuses

Find out more about the other University campuses below. There are also specialist campus locations depending on your degree programme.

Grafton Campus specialises in Medical and Health Sciences and is located in the central city suburb of Grafton, opposite Auckland Hospital. The School of Medicine has its biggest campus at the Auckland City Hospital making Grafton Campus an ideal location for students studying Medicine.

Epsom Campus is the main campus for the Faculty of Education and Social Work and houses the Sylvia Ashton-Warner Library. The Sylvia Ashton-Warner Library is an education and teacher library with collections for social work and counselling among many others. Epsom Campus is only a 10-minute drive south of Auckland's city centre.

Newmarket is University of Auckland’s newest campus. Located next to the major business area in Newmarket, the campus is the centre for advanced multidisciplinary science and engineering research. Covering five hectares, the new outstanding facilities are close to the City and Grafton campuses, creating an integrated campus cluster in the inner city of Auckland.

The South Auckland Campus is a new location for the Faculty of Education and Social Work. Located in Manukau, a suburb in South Auckland, the campus provides high-quality, local education and strengthens relationships with schools and the community.

Welfare and support

You will feel safe and looked after through your programme, with help from Taylors College's dedicated multilingual admin and welfare team. You will also have access to University of Auckland's support and services, such as doctors and counsellors.

Your health and wellbeing is important, so look out for events such as Stress Less Week with free yoga classes, healthy snacks and outdoor games. You can also take advantage of personal support and development opportunities, such as:

  • Leadership programmes
  • Auckland University Students’ Association – run by students for students.
